We absolutely love Dark Matter! It’s our go to 5lb bag. It always arrives extremely fresh. Barely have to do any adjustment to grind and it makes beautiful espresso drinks - hot or iced. The flavor is smooth and bold. One of my all time favorites!

Dark Matter is the best dark roast for espresso I've been able to find. Perfect for milk drinks, the espresso cuts through the milk nicely. I had been drinking the Traditional from Black and White for a bit but wanted something a touch darker without being burnt and this hits the mark perfectly.

At first I was hesitant to write a review for Dark Matter because I felt I wasn't getting the deep taste I thought it should have, so I went on their chat to get some advice. Well, I got an honest-to-god human being, not some AI chatbot that would just give me vague answers until I eventually gave up. The person helping me realized that I probably bought the wrong type of grind for what I was using (re-usable K cup pods) and suggested using an espresso grind. They sent me the correct grind, PLUS some extras to try! They also tried to give me a refund for my first order (even though it was totally my mistake). The new grind totally gave me what I was looking for in taste and I used my original order in my French press and it is awesome. Dark Matter has a wonderful deep flavor without the bitterness I expect in a dark roast. Thanks so much Superlost! I prefer to buy from small businesses and you have created a loyal customer. Enjoyable dark roast from someone who mostly drinks light roasts. This doesn't just taste and smell like burnt coffee. It has character. Nice take on a classic cup of coffee.

Dark. Not Burnt.

Compared to many other dark roast coffees which taste burnt, this dark roast does not. Dark chocolate and a subtle sweetness make this one head and shoulders better than most of what’s out there.

Good strong and smooth

Dark roast coffee has always been my favorite. This one is rich but not too smokey or heavy. (My son who prefers medium roast likes it as well). I will order it again.
